"Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life? And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own."

All everyone I know can think about is how they need to work work work in school so they can make big $$$ so they can have a big house and buy their kids nikes and nesquik and all that, and I take criticism from pretty much everyone I know for being rather laid back, because I really don't value material posessions and I trust that God will provide for me and my (future) family. So, I choose not to make school my top priority, though I do see value in doing well in it, but I refuse to sacrafice more important things in life for the sake of the Almighty dollar. My girlfriend, who I very much want to marry, makes me take a backseat to her schoolwork because she is bent on making good money, even though she isnt a materialistic girl, because she thinks that "financial security" will bring happiness and will somehow make our lives better. I don't mean to say that there's anything wrong with having money, or being well-off or any of that (though I think sharing their wealth with the less fortunate is something that many wealthy christians convienently forget to do, seeing it as being "their blessing from God" and therefore giving them the right to hoarde it), but I do think too many people place huge importance on money and materials in this materialistic society that we live in. I just think that verse highlights the importance of having Faith in God and not stressing about the neccessities, because as the above verse states God will provide for our needs. I see nothing wrong with working hard, but many people work hard for the wrong reasons, and at the expense of their loved ones. Sorry for the rant!

EDIT: I was already packing a few tensions from things going on with my girlfriend, and part of the above was just kind of me venting, sorry!
